Welcome to Round 4 Boxing! Let me introduce myself. My name is Rosemary Homeister. I was a professional thoroughbred jockey for the last 25 years. Becoming the 2nd most winning, female jockey, in the industry, of all time. Total wins 2, 784 with over $51 million in purse earnings.(not my take home pay - I wish!)
Maintaining a certain weight to be able to compete in these races taught me discipline. It wasn't always easy. Especially when your exerting so much energy with each race I tended to reach for a quick fix such as chocolate reeses peanut butter cups or some other unhealthy sugary snack. Feeling the ups and downs of the effects of this snack choice, I began to research other healthier options that would give me the same energy rush and tasted great. I turned to fruit! Yummy! This was not only sweet it was refreshing. Riding races in the heat, I would sweat out about 2-3lbs a day of water weight. (this was temporary of course!) So the fruit quenched my thirst as well as my bodies.
My life had taken amazing turn. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named "Victoria Rose" on August 21, 2011. She is the love of my life and everything I do now is for her. I had gained 50lbs during my pregnancy, which totally freaked me out. I was so used to having a fit and trim physique that I was super anxious to get my body back and return to racing. I waited a week after giving birth before hiring a personal trainer which helped me to understand the benefits of healthy eating and getting my body back strong and healthy. This is where I truly learned what it took to clean up my diet. I ended up losing the 50lbs in 10 weeks. I was 39 years old and my body looked better than ever and felt great.
I continued with my healthy eating journey and kept the knowledge I learned thru my own experience and then expanded on it. I am continually researching fun ways to create simple, healthy meals and teaching my daughter along the way.
I finally decided to hang up my tack(as we say in racing) end my riding career on September 28, 2015 and take on a new career as a Fitness and Nutrition Coach! This gave me the freedom to be there for my beautiful daughter and the freedom to create my own schedule! But most of all, I am able to teach and show others how to take the steps to get into a healthy living lifestyle. As well as, getting them into a fitness routine that they will love and make it work for there busy schedule.
I truly love helping people meet there health & fitness goals plus keeping a Positive outlook on my future as well as my daughters.
Life is what you make it. So Dream big and keep moving forward.
